Telling a Friend About Hiking
Mylah: Hey, so, since I’m so new to the area, I’ve been really bored on the weekends and I don’t know what to do. What do you usually do in your free time, like on Saturday or Sunday?
Kirsten: Oh, every weekend recently, I’ve been going hiking. Um, it’s super fun. I think you’d like it.
Mylah: Nice. Where do you usually go?
Kirsten: Oh, there are a bunch of places to go hiking in the area. Um, most of them are at least about a 30 minute drive away.
Mylah: OK. Um, like, do you go with a group? Or, like, a group of friends, or is there, like, a Meetup group or something?
Kirsten: Yeah, I usually go with at least one or two friends and I’ve introduced a few friends to it too.
Mylah: Nice. That sounds really cool. But how difficult is it? Like, are you guys doing really challenging trails? Because I’m really out of shape right now, so I would kinda need to ease my way into it, I think.
Kirsten: Oh, yeah, I totally get it.
Kirsten: So there are some more difficult ones and less difficult ones, like, you can look online to see which ones are gonna be longer or more challenging than others and just, you know, start out slow and it gets easier pretty fast.
Mylah: OK. So, like, when you go, how long does it take, usually? Like, is it like a one- or two-hour hike, or is it like a… all-day kinda thing?
Kirsten: Usually it doesn’t last for more than like three hours to get there and back…
Mylah: Oh, OK.
Kirsten: …um, and you know, it’s a great one because you don’t need any special equipment. Just, you know, get a good pair of exercise shoes and a water bottle and you’re good to go.
Mylah: Nice. Cool. So maybe I can go with you guys this weekend?
Kirsten: Absolutely!
Mylah: Awesome.
