Food and Family
Adam Liaw: We forget that cooking is really a conduit to some wonderful human experiences.
Adam Liaw: You know, uh, I was- I was actually, uh, I had a chat with Hetty McKinnon the other day,
Adam Liaw: and she was say- reflecting on her, you know, relationship with her mother and she was, like, you know, all of my memories of my mother are from the kitchen.
Adam Liaw: Like, if I picture her, I picture her cooking, I picture her in the kitchen.
Adam Liaw: And you know, I’m- I’m a- I’m a father. I have three kids and I- I think about my relationship with them and my own parents and grandparents and things as well.
Adam Liaw: And, you know, so much of that happens around a family dinner table or a family breakfast table, um, or around a meal of some kind.
Adam Liaw: And I just, I don’t think it’s all that healthy to make your cooking so complicated and so laborious
Adam Liaw: that you start to dread the thing that is actually at the core of I think a lot of families and a lot of our relationships with our closest peoples.

temptation – a strong desire to do or eat something that you know you should avoid, “The smell of fresh donuts was a huge temptation.”
invest more in – to spend more time, money, or effort on something to get a good result later, “You should invest more in learning new skills for your career.”
baked goods – foods like cakes, cookies, and breads that are cooked inside an oven, “The local shop sells delicious baked goods every morning.”
work up – to gradually build up or develop a feeling, energy, or strength, “You need to work up the courage to speak in front of a big crowd.”
regimen – a strict, planned routine of exercise or diet to improve your health, “The football player follows a tough daily training regimen.”
